A picture of a d10 with a story. (Repost from Pixelfed)
When I was in high school, I played a lot of Dungeons and Dragons. Think back to 2nd Edition with THAC0. Anyway, I played a lot with my best friends, who would go on to be one of my best men at my wedding.
While in high school, his had a house fire at home. I walked through his house with him the next day. Sitting on his charred, computer was his D&D dice. Most were so charred they were unreadable. Not the d10. It had a coating that looked like a toasted marshmallow.
He was going to chuck it, but I asked if he'd mind if I kept it. He did not.
I've had it since.
That was 26+ years ago. Used it last weekend playing D&D.
@mdmrn
You posted this story before didn't you? I remember because I had a similar story I wanted to post and never got around to. Which is disappointing, but not surprising. I don't know how many posts each day never see the light of day either because I don't have the energy at the time, or the time, and intend to do it later and just forget. I'd do it now but I'm supposed to be sleeping and tomorrow I have a Star Wars game to go to.
@murdoc You're right! I did. I originally posted it to my Pixelfed account. However, that Instance is closing soon. So, I am reposting some of my Pixelfed posts to Mastodon. I put repost on the toot, but guess it wasn't clear enough!!
