Okay, poll has spoken. I will begin reading #ThePrinceOfTennis.
Comments will be kept in this thread.

Okay finished Chapter 1.
Thoughts?
Ryoma is young looking, really good at tennis, and has an oversized ego. While I like how he knocked down the teenagers who were rude to him a peg, he needs to be knocked down too.
They've already mentioned the title of the series a few times in the first chapter. Love that about this series.
Sakuno seems like a nervous sweetheart.
Interested so far in seeing what happens next.

A question for those who follow me - should I put my thoughts behind spoilers? The series ended about 15 years ago, but some new people may get into it.
Please vote in the #poll.
Also, I'm not going to put commentary on every single chapter. May do like comments every 10 or so.

10 chapters down. Thoughts so far.
It gets better. Ryoma is still a super arrogant turd, but I like him using his massive skills to take down older, equally arrogant players. It's also interesting to see him adapt to different players and play styles.
Kaido will be a fun rival to Ryoma. He is close to Ryoma in skill, but never expects when others are close to that skill level.
Sakuna definitely is crushing on Ryoma.

10 more chapters down. Now I am through Chapter 20.
More thoughts: I appreciate how Ryoma uses his skills to knock down people who are arrogant jerks to help his friends. It's ironic that he doesn't get that he too s an arrogant turd.
We learn more about his Dad, but not much. Would like to see more.
I appreciate seeing a weakness in Ryoma's game, even if it is just about him playing doubles.
Through Chapter 30.
This section begins a tournament arc and forces Ryoma to work with others. I really appreciated it and seeing him learn to adjust / adapt especially in a doubles setting.
I think once we get into tournaments like this and we see the full cast in action, I'm going to enjoy this series more than just Ryoma being an arrogant, but skilled turd.
Okay, the poll has spoken. I will use spoilers as I move forward.
Chapters 31 through 40 were good. Getting into the tournament and finishing it was excellent. Finally seeing Ryoma squirm a bit, but only a bit. His arrogance really is boundless.
But, he is very tenacious. He seriously hurt his eye in a match and kept at it. Very impressive.
Also, new rival team introduced.
Whoops! Kept reading but didn't keep up with the thread.
The training arc was fabulous right after the last tournament, but this tournament has been great. The unexpected split wins for the doubles teams.
Now we have Ryoma toying with a very strong challenger whose brother is on his team.
Kind of here for this.
Finished another 10 chapters of Prince of Tennis. Solid close out to this phase of the Tokyo Tournament.
Ryoma & company are moving onto the semi-finals and we get a few breather chapters in between the tournament.
Great use of the individual characters, great use of Ryoma's skill to throw St. Rudolph off.
Great part of the story. We'll see the semi-finals next!
This could not have happened to a nicer kid.
Already despise this kid.
Not done reading yet! Just finished the City Tournament arc. It was very well done.
Jin was a great, short-term villain character. And his take his ball & go home attitude after losing to Ryoma made sense. It served the purpose of the character...who was ridiculously awful and, frankly being used by his coach.
Seishun won the City Tournament, which was great to see. Especially with how well the team performed.
Also, loved that moment where the one team seemed super hype...only to give up!
Let's see where it goes next.
@mdmrn spoilers are only for new series in the past year or so in my opinion in any media.
@gnitro I mean, that's fair. I wasn't sure. I definitely do for any weekly stuff I read, but for something that ended in 2008 - wasn't sure if it made sense to hide behind a spoiler.
@To It was a very good match of Jin vs Ryoma. Loved to see it. And the follow up to it, how we see Jin just quit. It fits entirely with the volatile personality you had seen for him up until that point. His pride was destroyed and he just took his ball & went home.
It reminds you of the truly fragile ego of bullies.
@To Ryoma is an arrogant little turd, I like seeing him put in his place...which is rare, but he is the titular "Prince of Tennis..."
@To Absolutely!
@mdmrn Rest in Peace your sanity
@Tiro What's sanity? I have four kids I think I lost it years ago
@mdmrn Haha touche :)
I've read that manga and the best chapter was the first one Lol
@Tiro Oh no! What have I signed up for
@mdmrn Lol it's gonna be a slow down hill from here You will see...
@Tiro Slow isn't bad. And, I mean, I caught up on One Piece well after it hit 1,000 chapters and just finished the Bleach manga. What's a few hundred chapters between friends?
@mdmrn Sure, I also finished it despite it becoming what it did. I quite liked the characters so I'll try to read more of the Hokago 4-koma eventually but I'm not reading New Prince of Tennis. Ever.
