Figured I would make the best of my time in the city and engage in some Tourist Traps™️

Went up to Fisherman's Wharf and visited Musée Mécanique. I last visited this area 10 years ago but didn't have time to visit this because I was with family then.

Was a bit surprised that in addition to all these old timey amusement machines, they had arcade video games as well.

...good god, after playing on so many Japanese cabs, American arcade cabs are horrifically unergonomic! But I managed to pull a decent score on Raiden Fighters Jet because I remembered how to unlock X-medal mode.

So anyway, after a few hours of playing Under Defeat on Switch, it's safe to say this is a pretty solid port, at least in terms of running well. No lag that I noticed (so maybe 3-4 frames?), all modes and helicos unlocked right out of the gate, and I'm still laughing (but in a "but also, this fucks" way [tvtropes.org]) over the SuperSweep soundtrack that sounds like it would go in a racing game.

(I heard there are discrepancies vs the Naomi version but tbh that isn't going to matter much if you're not trying to chase community high score tables or world records, and also slight inaccuracies are an inevitable part of every video game port)

If there is any input lag, it's imperceptible to me, this release is solid for me so far

Has arcade, New Order, and NO+ out of the gate, as well as the funny bonus ships, and four soundtracks: original, arranged (which is basically original but extended), Yousuke Yasui "New Order" arrange, and the new SuperSweep "Boosted" soundtrack that's different (i.e. they are not arranges) and turns the game vibe into "Ridge Racer but in Not-WWII"
