Re last boost:

Those in charge of admissions at other universities, those in charge of hiring: What makes a university degree worth something is the value you assign to it.

When universities are revoking degrees because they're too weak or collaborationist to resist the pressure of a fascist gov't, that doesn't mean you have to go along with that.

Accept the credentials of those who've earned them. Hell, they're ESPECIALLY earned right now. #AcademicChatter #Fascism

I think it's important to keep in mind that what Trump does is sign a paper or give a written or verbal order.

What makes the horrible shit he's ordering happen is a series of people carrying it out. Any one or all of whom could have refused to do so.

One person refusing slows things down.

The more people who refuse, the more hope we have of not going further down this road.

You fear getting fired? Are they not firing ppl anyway?

I shared this statement by Lee Bollinger here previously, but want to highlight it again today as David Kurtz makes it his quote of the day:

"We're in the midst of an authoritarian takeover of the U.S. government."

One of the ways fascists maintain control is not by explicit laws, but fear of reprisals.

The administration has been going after law firms that dare to oppose them.

Just one of the many ways we moving away from rule of law and into tyranny.

PS:

to those who asked me about this pinned post,
mastodon.social/@blogdiva/1134

use this thread as an explanation to the very serious joke.

when #fascism happens to BPIOC it’s called #racism; but that racism is sometimes #sexism, #misogyny, #homophobia, #transphobia, #xenophobia, #antisemitism, #ableism, #eugenics ―and when against entire nations, #colonialism & #genocide.

so whatever you let the ruling classes get away with racism will come back to haunt you as fascism.

get it now?

Asked whether Trump's implementation of Project 2025, the Christian nationalist gameplan to abolish democracy, has been successful so far, Paul Dans, architect of Project 2025, responds:

"It’s actually way beyond my wildest dreams."

@Shivviness

#MAGA will pull a #reichstagFire routine

any violent expression- real or #agentProvocateur, will be met with a huge crackdown on #civilLiberties

this is not an argument to not fight

this is a recognition of what we are up against, and some people in denial out there need to understand what's coming

#fascism only understands one thing. and it should have met that a long time ago, because by waiting and "it will all just go away" bs the threat only grows

"Each time we show solidarity with others, or support those who are protecting the rule of law, helping the targeted, or exposing the lies and the corruption, we are standing up for democratic values of justice, accountability, equality, and more. In doing so, we model the behaviors the authoritarian state wants us to abandon."

"You know who's doing great organizing for us right now? Elon Musk and Donald Trump, that's who. By attacking and alienating more and more swathes of the American public, they're handing us the possibility of a coalition bigger and broader than maybe anything we've ever seen in this country before. A gift, if we take it and do something with it."

"The unitary executive theory is really just a way to cloak the morphing of a democratically elected president into a dictator with the appearance of legality. If presidents can do whatever they want, including putting people on a plane and sending them to prisons in a foreign country with no due process whatsoever, then really, who are we?"

#fascism is often described as #capitalism turning #colonialism inward.

once the ruling capitalist classes run out of scapegoat minorities to colonize, they turn against the “buffer zone”, the so-called hegemonic working classes that separate & protect them from the colonized masses.

in USA #racism creates that buffer zone by allotting more money & access to a designated hegemonic segments of the working classes.

so let’s speak of this from a neoconfederacy perspective…
