For those who read #ebooks and what not, what are your experiences with the Kobo Clara Colour?

I have a Kindle Paperwhite 6th Gen right now and very much prefer the paper feel and look to my books; I don't need more tablet/computer screens to look at. I get enough of that at work.

Consider the Clara Colour as an upgrade and curious what others' experiences have been.

I've been formatting books for seven years now and have done hundreds of titles. Have a new book you want to self-publish, but just don't quite know how to prep your book files? We use Vellum for the Mac, and provide formatting for ePub (all formats) and pdf/print.

Best of all? It's just $85, changes included. Try it now:

Over the weekend, I received some vaguely threatening emails from someone who wanted to stop me from publishing my research into Readium's LCP DRM.

I've published both my findings *and* the emotionally manipulative messages they sent.

Finished book 8!

And, I thought I’d purchased the entire series of ebooks, but apparently not. Book 9 is nowhere to be found. :(

So now I need to sort out where to purchase this ebook. The others were from Amazon, before I stopped buying from them.

Looked at bookshop.org, but they don’t permit downloads, you have to use their app.

Any advice?

🆕 blog! “Extracting content from an LCP "protected" ePub”

As Cory Doctorow once said "Any time that someone puts a lock on something that belongs to you but won't give you the key, that lock's not there for you."

But here's the thing with the LCP DRM scheme; they do give you the key! As I've written about previously, LCP mostly relies on the user…

Picked up a cheap #Amazon #Kindle #Paperwhite 11th gen (2021) from #Woot. Already have a 2018 and 2019. The 2021 is noticeably faster with page refreshes and graphic clarity and has USB-C which is awesome.

Been reading #ebooks since the days of my #Sony #Clié (2002) and will never pick up a paper book again - unless it’s a coffee-table art book. Ebooks are one of the biggest game changers of my life. #ebook #reader

#ScribesAndMakers 13. Shameless Self-Promotion Day. Let's boost away.

Was totally excited when my debut #fantasy novel, "Of Squires and Knights," became a finalist for the 2023 American Writing Awards in the fantasy category.

Here's a short bit from one of the descriptions:

"Abuse of power and corruption are not what Jonathan would ever expect at Consany Castle—especially during his last year as a squire."

Does anyone else know of a good self hosted ebook library server that can be used with native multi-platform reading app support and sync reading progress?

I really don't want to read books from a web app, I want to be able to read while offline whether on my iPhone, iPad or my Boox e-reader (Android)

I love the way BookFusion works, but I don't want to rely on their cloud storage (or any company's cloud storage for that matter)

Added info on how to register for advanced listener copies after folks DM'd me.

Refraining from emailing my publisher to ask if they can send me an audiobook sample of Pass the Salt so I can privately swoon over Kevin's voice without checking out a book from the library.

For those *not* following me and reading this, Kevin R Free is narrating the audiobook version of Pass the Salt.

Advanced listener copies should be ready by end of March/early April. Tick the street team box on the link below so people can get to the right place on my mailing list. Street team get review and advanced copies.
